Star anise has been used as a seasoning and medicinal herb for thousands of years. The fruits of the star anise tree are crushed with peel as they are highly aromatic. Star anise has a sweet spicy liquorice flavour similar to anise. HS Star Anise Whole can be used in the composition of the five spice mix, (a universal Chinese seasoning), as an ingredient in marinades for poultry (e.g. Peking duck) and for seasoning pho soups.
